Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as: • Protecting children from maltreatment • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development • Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes The legal definition of Children includes everyone under the age of 18. Employers should provide Apprentices with a safe environment and equality of opportunity, and work with FG Education to promote the welfare of children in line with the points above. FG Education extends our responsibilities to safeguard all our learners, not just those under 18. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. For services to be effective, every organisation and professional within the business should play their full part Everyone who comes into contact with an Apprentice has a role to play in identifying concerns, sharing information and taking prompt action. Where a child is suffering significant harm, or is likely to do so, action should be taken to protect that child.
